We took a brand-new Harley-Davidson Road Glide, stripped away its stock rubber, and shod it with Pirelli’s latest high-performance V-Twin weapon: the Pirelli Diablo Powercruiser.

The results? This heavy-duty cruiser didn’t just walk through the tight, consecutive corners near Knoxville—it danced.

Cruising with Sportbike DNA

Pirelli has never been a company to build boring tires. While many traditional cruiser tire brands design treads purely for longevity, the land-to-sea ratio (the volume of grooves compared to slick rubber), and water evacuation, the Milanese firm injects their typical Italian flair into everything they do. They understand that cruiser riders who want to go fast still appreciate an aggressive, gorgeous aesthetic.

The Diablo Powercruiser pulls inspiration straight from Pirelli’s premier sportbike family, channeling technologies found in standard-setting track and street bike options like the Diablo Rosso Corsa series.

What sets the Powercruiser apart from the flatter, high-mileage options common to the heavy V-twin market is its distinctive profile. Pirelli designed this tire with a taller, pointier geometry. This steeper profile dramatically reduces steering effort. Instead of forcing the 800-pound Road Glide to tip into a turn, the tire provides a completely neutral handling profile that snaps the bike over quickly and predictably, mimicking the lightning-fast lower-speed turn-in of a 600cc sportbike.

Taming 100 Foot-Pounds of American Torque

Modern touring rigs from Harley-Davidson’s upgraded platform pack massive 117-cubic-inch power plants. These engines dump nearly 100 pound-feet of pure, unadulterated torque directly to the rear patch.
