The Ultimate High-Performance Street Tire?

We recently headed out to the high-desert heat of Chuckwalla Valley Raceway to put the all-new Continental Sport Attack 5 tires through their paces. Continental’s latest high-performance street rubber is designed for sportbike riders who demand quick warm-up times and a neutral, balanced profile. Whether you’re carving through the Ortega Highway or looking to shave seconds off your lap times in Riverside County, these German-engineered hoops are built to impress.

Testing across a variety of machinery—including the 2026 Honda CBR600RR and the beastly BMW S1000RR, the Sport Attack 5 revealed a remarkably versatile character. Continental classifies this as an 80/20 tire (80% street, 20% track), and that balance is evident in how it handles. The profile isn’t overly aggressive, which prevents the bike from feeling “nervous,” yet it remains responsive enough to make mid-corner adjustments effortless.

On the liter-class BMW, the rear tire showed off its most entertaining trait: predictable sliding. Even with slightly higher-than-usual cold pressures (32 PSI front / 39 PSI rear), the tire offered a “playful” feel. When the rear begins to step out under power, it does so with a gentle, communicative drift rather than an abrupt snap. It’s the kind of performance that makes you feel like a superstar without the need for tire warmers or a dedicated track bike setup.

The front tire provides excellent confidence under heavy braking, maintaining its shape without feeling excessively stiff. For the street rider who occasionally hits the track, the ability to “strap them on and ride” without faffing with suspension settings is a massive win.
