Suzuki’s K5-powered sportbike, live from the EICMA floor

Summary: The 2027 Suzuki GSX-10R is a full-fairing sportbike built around the GSX-S1000’s K5-derived 999cc inline-four. It adds clip-ons, front winglets, a 4.2-inch color TFT, cruise control and 15 electronic rider aids. Suzuki USA lists it with a 12-month unlimited-mileage warranty, but U.S. pricing hasn’t been announced.

Good morning from Milan. EICMA 2026 is open for business and Suzuki brought something we didn’t see coming: the 2027 Suzuki GSX-10R. No, that’s not a typo of GSX-R1000R. It’s a brand-new sportbike based on the GSX-S1000 we know and love, now dressed in a full fairing with clip-ons. This is our first look straight from the show floor. For the full technical breakdown, read our 2027 Suzuki GSX-10R Preview.

Suzuki GSX-10R: GSX-S Muscle in a Sportbike Suit

Walk up to the GSX-10R and the family resemblance is obvious. The heart is Suzuki’s long-stroke 999cc, liquid-cooled DOHC inline-four, refined from the K5 GSX-R1000 engine that’s been powering the GSX-S1000 for years. It sits in a twin-spar aluminum frame that Suzuki reinforced for sport riding, and it swings a new aluminum swingarm inspired by the GSX-R1000R. Hamamatsu didn’t reinvent the wheel here. It took parts that already work and pointed them at a new kind of rider.

That rider wants a real sportbike, not a naked bike with a fairing bolted on. Suzuki gave the GSX-10R clip-on handlebars and a forward-leaning riding position like the GSX-R1000R’s, but with a softer, flatter seat and a bigger 4.7-gallon tank. Commute on it Monday, tour on it Saturday, take it to a track day Sunday. That’s the pitch, and on paper it holds up.

Cockpit Tech: Cruise Control and a Key

Look at the dash and you’ll spot a new 4.2-inch full-color TFT that runs the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System. That’s 15 electronic control systems run through a six-axis IMU, the most advanced version of S.I.R.S. yet. And look, we’ve got cruise control. Good job, Suzuki, getting it done. The list also includes a bi-directional quickshifter, launch control, cornering ABS and two Suzuki firsts: Slide Control and Brake Hold Control.

And it still has a keyed ignition. Very, very nice. Some of us like turning a real key, and the same key opens the storage compartment under the passenger seat.

Styling: Projector LEDs and Winglets

Up front sits a compact dual-function projector LED headlight flanked by LED position lights, plus forward-swept winglets that generate downforce to keep the front wheel planted on corner exits. Very, very tasty. Out back, the LED taillight pays homage to the GSX-R1000R. The bike on the stand was finished in black, one of three color options alongside blue/silver and red/gray. Stopping power comes from Brembo Monobloc four-piston calipers on 310mm floating discs, and Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S23 tires keep it glued down.

Verdict: I Want One in the Garage

I can tell you already that I want one of these bad boys in my garage. I love the GSX-S1000 and the GSX-S1000GT. They’re awesome bikes, super comfortable, they rip, and in typical Suzuki form they’re value-conscious. The GSX-10R takes that formula and adds sportbike attitude. Suzuki USA already lists it in the 2027 lineup, and global sales start rolling out in summer 2027. Pricing is still TBA. If Suzuki keeps it close to GSX-S money, it’s going to be a problem for the competition.
