The legendary British marque, Norton Motorcycles, is back in the spotlight, and this time they have their sights set firmly across the Atlantic. We recently got an up-close look at the 2027 Norton V4 line-up—specifically the high-end Manx sportbike and its more accessible sibling, the Manx R.
A Masterclass in Industrial Design
The first thing you notice about the new Norton superbikes is the incredible “clean sheet” design. Norton has achieved a remarkably sleek aesthetic by eliminating visible fasteners on the bodywork. It’s a smooth, flowing silhouette that feels more like a piece of rolling art than a traditional machine.
The premium Manx model is a carbon-fiber dream. From the BST carbon wheels to the exhaust and body panels, the bike is draped in the lightweight material, giving it an ultra-premium, “up-spec” feel.
V4 Power and Precision
At the heart of both machines is a monstrous 1200cc V4 engine. This powerplant allows for an incredibly slim mid-section, improving ergonomics and aerodynamics. While we weren’t able to fire them up just yet, the bikes are packed with top-tier componentry:
- Brembo Monoblock Calipers: The latest generation of stopping power.
- Semi-Active Suspension: High-end tech designed to handle both track days and spirited canyon runs.
- Full-Color TFT Display: A massive cockpit screen that promises a modern interface for the rider.
The “Prince” of the Show
While the silver Manx is a classic, the Manx R in its vibrant turquoise-blue colorway stole the show. It’s a bold look that calls to mind the iconic style of Prince—fitting for a bike that aims to be royalty on the road. The Manx R swaps some carbon for forged aluminum wheels and a slightly different finish, but maintains that aggressive V4 DNA.
Will They Make It to the States?
Norton USA has indicated that these bikes will be competitively priced within the European superbike spectrum (think BMW S1000RR or Ducati Panigale V4 territory). The big hurdle? Norton has yet to establish its U.S. dealer network. However, the brand is optimistic that by the 2027 model year, American riders will finally be able to get their hands on these British beauties.
Is there room in the crowded U.S. market for another high-end superbike manufacturer? If they ride as good as they look, the answer is a resounding ‘yes’.
