2025 kawasaki ninja zx4rr review
2025 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR.

Tiny Engine, Big Screams

In a world increasingly dominated by sensible (and dare I say, slightly snooze-worthy) parallel twins, Kawasaki has decided to keep the party alive with a high-revving masterpiece. If you’ve been yearning for that authentic, hair-raising inline-four wail without the “lose your license” speeds of a liter-bike, the 2025 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR is your neon-green ticket to nirvana.

I’ve been living with this machine as a long-term project bike, and let me tell you, it has been an absolute hoot from the canyons of Southern California to the local racetrack. It’s nimble, it’s forgiving, and with a few choice modifications, it transforms from a great bike into a lightweight weapon.

The Modifications: Trimming the Fat and Adding the Flair

While the stock ZX-4RR is impressive, we couldn’t resist a little “In the Garage” TLC to elevate the experience:

  • Yoshimura AT2 Slip-On Exhaust: This American-made beauty is 50-state legal, making it a dream for riders from New York to California. Not only does it shave nearly 5 lbs off the bike—bringing our wet weight down to a svelte 410 lbs—but it unlocks that signature Yoshimura growl. At around $650, it’s the best “bang-for-your-buck” soundtrack upgrade you can buy.
  • Luimoto Designer Seat Covers: Hailing from Canada, Luimoto provides hand-stitched, marine-grade covers that drastically sharpen the bike’s aesthetic. We opted for a tricolor suede and tech-grip design that looks factory-plus and provides much-needed stability in the corners.
  • Continental SM2 Tires: We bid farewell to the OE Dunlop GPR 300s and fitted these new SM2s. Designed for lightweight bikes, these tires offer a sharper profile that makes the already agile Ninja change direction like a housefly on espresso.

The Verdict: Why It Matters

The beauty of the ZX-4RR lies in its accessibility. With roughly 50 horsepower, it’s not going to bite you if you get a little greedy with the throttle, making it perfect for entry-level enthusiasts or seasoned vets looking for a “momentum bike” that can carry incredible corner speed. It’s an exhilarating throwback to the golden era of small-displacement sportbikes, wrapped in modern reliability.
