Heated eFire jacket for $329.99, mid-layers from $129.99
The Short Answer: KLIM’s redesigned Fall 2026 mid-layer collection includes the all-new $329.99 Override eFire Jacket and redesigned $249.99 Override eFire Vest, which have three-panel USB-C battery heating, along with non-heated Override, Override Alloy and Alloy pieces priced from $129.99. KLIM lists all seven in its men’s motorcycle mid-layer collection, and they’re on sale now at klim.com and KLIM dealers.
Anyone who has ridden a pre-dawn freeway in November knows the routine: too hot in the garage, frozen by the on-ramp, sweaty by the first traffic jam. The mid-layer does the hardest job in your outfit, and KLIM just gave it a full redesign.
“For KLIM, comfort is more than warmth,” wrote John Summers, KLIM’s VP of Marketing, in the email announcing the collection. “It’s about controlling moisture, balancing heat, and adapting to changing riding conditions. The new mid-layer lineup gives riders more ways to manage their micro-climate.” Basically, KLIM wants you to watch your body temperature as closely as your tire pressures. Fair enough.
What Is KLIM’s Fall 2026 Mid-Layer Collection?
KLIM, the Rigby, Idaho, gear maker, has refreshed its entire mid-layer family. Its “Science of Comfort” briefing divides the collection into two groups:
- Electric heated mid-layers: the new Override eFire Jacket ($329.99) and the redesigned Override eFire Vest ($249.99)
- Traditional mid-layers: the redesigned Override Jacket ($199.99), Override Vest ($159.99), Override Alloy Jacket ($169.99), Override Alloy Pant ($129.99) and Alloy Jacket ($139.99)
KLIM filed the press kit with its 2026-2027 snow releases, but the product pages call every piece a “powersports” mid-layer, and all seven are listed in KLIM’s Men’s Motorcycle Mid Layers collection. Each one is designed to go under a shell, ideally GORE-TEX, which makes them a good fit for adventure tourers, commuters and anyone who keeps riding after the temperature drops.
Override vs. Alloy: Decoding KLIM’s Names
KLIM’s walkthrough video explains the names. “Override” is the insulated material, 60 grams of stretch insulation under a stretch shell. “Alloy” is thinner, highly breathable grid-back fleece with no insulation. The Override Alloy combines the two, with insulation where the wind hits and fleece where you sweat. Think of it as the mullet of mid-layers: business in the front, party in the back.
Override eFire Jacket ($329.99): The Heated Headliner
The Override eFire Jacket is the only piece KLIM calls “all-new.” It’s an Override with eFire heat: a 20D ripstop nylon shell with DWR treatment, 60 grams of stretch insulation, a stretch fabric chassis, a moisture-wicking lining and 3M Scotchlite Carbon Black reflective. It has two zippered hand pockets, a zippered chest pocket, an inner zipper draft flap, a zipper garage and YKK zippers.
It has three heat panels: one on each side of the upper chest and one running horizontally across the mid-upper back. KLIM says the improved elements stay quiet while you’re moving, which is good news for anyone who has worn heated gear that crinkles like a bag of chips. A lighted touch button on the upper right chest stays clear of backpack straps and controls three modes:
- High (red): up to 2.5 hours
- Medium (blue): up to 3.5 hours
- Low (green): up to 8 hours
A USB-C battery with an LED charge indicator sits in a dedicated pocket, and KLIM includes a USB-C cable. Take the battery out and the jacket can go in the washer and dryer. Sizes are XS-3X, in Black – Monument only.
Override eFire Vest ($249.99)
The vest shares the jacket’s shell, insulation, heat system and run times, minus the sleeves and $80. KLIM lists four second-generation updates: tougher logo applications, drawstring hardware moved from the pocket to under the hem, more stretch, and quieter panels with “less crinkling noise.” Losing the sleeves also frees up room under an armored riding jacket. It comes in XS-3X, Black – Monument.
Using eFire: Battery Tips From KLIM
KLIM’s eFire walkthrough video adds a few details. The battery has its own power button that you have to press first, a step KLIM says some owners have overlooked. After that, hold the chest button for three to five seconds. The system starts on high, and KLIM says it drops to medium after 10 minutes so you don’t overheat or drain the battery. The video also says it’s the same battery KLIM has used in previous years. KLIM’s presenter carries a spare, and KLIM sells the eFire Base and Mid Layer Battery for $39.99 (7.4V, 2,250mAh, 16.65Wh, USB-C). That product page tells buyers to confirm eFire compatibility on klim.com.
The presenter’s rough run times (about two, four and eight hours) differ slightly from the product page, so we use KLIM’s published “up to” numbers. A 30-degree freeway slog will drain any battery faster.
Override Jacket ($199.99) and Override Vest ($159.99)
If you’d rather not charge one more thing, the second-generation Override Jacket and Vest give you the same 20D ripstop shell, DWR finish and 60 grams of compressible, hypoallergenic stretch insulation, which replaces the old 60g 3M Thinsulate. Both get the same updates as the eFire Vest: tougher logos, drawstring hardware moved to under the hem, and more stretch. The jacket comes in Black – Monument, Petrol – Black and Dark Olive – Black, and the vest comes in Black – Monument. Both are SM-3X.
Override Alloy Jacket ($169.99) and Override Alloy Pant ($129.99)
The Override Alloy Jacket has insulation and the 20D shell across the front and arms, with grid-back fleece on the back and under the arms, so KLIM rates it more breathable than the Override. The redesign adds a zippered chest pocket behind the insulation, and KLIM’s video says the pocket layout now matches the Override. It comes in Bitter Chocolate – Black, Monument – Black and Black – Monument, SM-3X.
The Override Alloy Pant’s insulated upper front and back legs now extend down to mid-shin, with grid fleece on the lower legs and sides to keep bulk down inside your boots. It has two hand pockets, a YKK zippered back pocket you can reach through most outerwear side zips, an internal reversible drawcord and an elastic back waist. KLIM promises “public wearability,” so you can walk into the diner without looking like you slept in it. It’s $20 less than the previous $149.99 version. Black – Monument, XS-3X.
Alloy Jacket ($139.99)
The second-generation Alloy Jacket is the most breathable of the bunch. It has an uninsulated grid-back fleece body, 20D ripstop overlays on the elbows, chest and shoulders, two zippered hand pockets, a chest pocket and 3M Scotchlite reflective. Wear it on dual-sport days when you’re standing on the pegs and putting out more heat than the engine. Its feature list carries over, so the visible change is new colors: Monument – Black, Black – Monument and Bitter Chocolate – Black, SM-3X.
Which KLIM Mid-Layer Fits Your Riding?
KLIM’s briefing makes one key point: trapped sweat speeds up heat loss. It recommends eFire for long-distance, prolonged-cold and lower-output riding, and the non-heated pieces for high-output riding. Here’s how we’d sort them:
- Touring and commuting in serious cold: Override eFire Jacket
- Heat for your core under a fitted jacket: Override eFire Vest
- Cool, mixed-condition days on the street or ADV bike: Override Jacket or Vest
- Technical off-road and dual-sport: Override Alloy Jacket, Alloy Jacket and Override Alloy Pant
